Social Initiatives - Ramadan Food Parcels

Ramadan Food Parcels - What's it all about?

Ramadan is a month which is all about being self aware of all our actions, abstaining as much as we can, not just from food but from all forms of ills.

Back in 2020, when we were hit with covid, I started this initiative to help local families in the area who were in need of a decent meal at least once a week. Since we were unable to do iftaar parties, I got a team of volunteers made up of friends, family & strangers who wanted to join in, some of whom I met via facebook groups. Every Saturday we were making food parcels, comprising of a 3 course home cooked meals with fruit & drinks as well, for local families in need.

I thought we could use our resources, financial & time, for a good cause, as there is a lot of charity in need here in the UK as well as overseas. We opened this initiative to help all families irrespective of faith who were struggling because I wanted to educate people about Islam and change their perceptions of Islam and muslims.

Post Covid I have continued to do this, as I think more than ever people are in need in our communities who continues to struggle but also with the growing backdrop of Islamaphobia we need to work together as a Muslim community to try change narratives & perceptions of Islam and showcase the positive contribution we all make.

To help explain how you can do this, I have put together an information pack which has the details on what you need to do and some organisational templates to help you organise. Simply click here to access the pack.
