Collection: Walled City of Lahore

Walled City of Lahore — A Scent Rooted in History

Within the ancient walls of Old Lahore, history breathes through every archway, every mosaic, every narrow lane. Established around 1000 CE, the Walled City of Lahore was the beating heart of the Mughal Empire — home to the lavishly decorated Wazir Khan Mosque, the grand Badshahi Mosque, and the historic Shahi Hammam. It is one of South Asia's most extraordinary living heritage sites.

But this collection was inspired not just by the architecture — it was inspired by a lost tradition.

The Story Behind the Scent

In early 20th-century Lahore, a young woman from an affluent family would receive a very special wedding gift from her father: a traditional perfume box containing six scents. Unmarried girls did not wear perfume — but at the wedding, it was customary for a senior family member to present this box as a rite of passage into womanhood.

The most treasured scents were rose, aloe wood, sandalwood, jasmine, amber, and mustard. Richer families favoured amber — rarer and harder to extract — while jasmine, abundant across Lahore's gardens, was more widely used. This intimate, fragrant ritual has largely faded from modern life. This collection is dedicated to keeping it alive.

Designed with Heritage in Mind

The packaging draws its inspiration from the Mughal and Islamic architecture of the Walled City itself — intricate geometric patterns, rich ornamentation, and centuries of artistic tradition — brought to life by Nida Zuberi, a UK-based designer and graduate of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, Karachi.
